Donn graduated with a Bachelor of Science  degree in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and was granted his Masters Degree in EE (power option) from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2004.

Donn's engineering experience include commercial, large industrial, mining power system design, system study (short circuit, protection coordination, voltage drop and motor starting), conceptual and detail design, procurement (specification writing and bid evaluation) of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, cables, etc.  He has knowledge of code compliance issues pertaining to the National Electrical Code (National Fire Protection Association part 72).

Since Joining NEI Donn has worked on numerous generator installations in locations as diverse as oil platforms in Alaska, waste water treatment plants in Colorado, and coastal stand-by installations in Florida. Donn has also specialized in fault and coordination studies for utilities and large college campuses. Donn also preformed a large scale stability study for two large generators that are driven by gas turbines augmented with high pressure steam injected into the combustion stage.

Donn is a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Colorado, Alaska, Florida, and Nebraska.
