NEI provided Professional Engineering Services, Inspections and Recommendations, Power System Design (MV & LV), Equipment Procurement, Specification, Project Bidding Assistance for the upgrade of all electrical distribution systems at the MWRD Central Plant and Thornton Lift Station.

Project included design of two (2) new 15kV Switchgear Substations, Replacement of 90% of medium voltage distribution cable, design of four (4) 480V Loadcenters, replacement and upgrade of existing motor control centers, plant wide load flow and coordination study.  Protective relay setting development (SEL-351, SEL-587, SEL-701,) including Automatic-Throw-Over Scheme and Generation Inter-tie with Excel Energy.  Project also included connecting protective relaying and metering via SEL-2030 Communications processors and upgrade of Power system communications system to Ethernet protocol and infrastructure.

NEI provided Professional Engineering Services, Construction Supervision, Commissioning and Testing for the upgrade of all electrical distribution systems at the MWRD Central Plant and Thornton Lift Station.

NEI acted as the Owner’s Engineer providing Construction Supervision, work oversight, and provided submittal review for contractor and suppliers of Owner furnished equipment. 

NEI also provided commissioning and testing services for all electrical equipment installed.  NEI verified proper operation of all installed equipment and worked with contractor to correct construction errors.  NEI proved all control and data collection loops to MWRD’s central control room.
