Job Overview

The IT Specialist I is primarily responsible for providing first point of contact technical support for end users and developing new processes and procedures to support the growth of the IT department and NEI. This individual is expected to take ownership of any technical issues, and is motivated to learn, think creatively, and implement new technologies as needed. A strong command of Microsoft Windows and Server is vital to excel in this role.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance
  • Manages the end user experience and develops new systems and procedures
  • Manages and configures computer hardware, laptops, and desktops
  • Oversees the meeting room technology (MS Teams Rooms) and has the competency to troubleshoot issues
  • Takes ownership of customer issues reported and sees problems through to resolution
  • Researches, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and identifies solutions to resolve software and hardware issues
  • Provides training to users on new technology and problem spots
  • Analyzes and identifies trends to devise preventive solutions
  • Schedules and handles regular check-ins with employees to ensure their IT systems are fully functional
  • Documents technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals

Skills & Knowledge

  • Possesses a good understanding of computer systems and mobile devices
  • Ability to diagnose, research and resolve technical issues with limited guidance and oversight
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Capable of prioritizing and adapting to varying workloads, while managing multiple tickets and projects simultaneously
  • Possess a high degree of accuracy, with strong attention to detail
  • Must have a customer-oriented approach and be even-tempered
  • Must have hands-on experience with Windows and Windows Server environments
  • Knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs
  • Must have the ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • Must be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality when exposed to confidential or sensitive information
  • A strong command of the English language

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Education: Degree from an accredited institution preferred (or in process of earning)
  • Certifications are a plus: CompTIA+, Network +, Security +, Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, or similar technologies
  • Passionate about continually improving IT by understanding the balance between new technology and processes juxtaposed to the need for a reliable and secure IT infrastructure

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sedentary activity.
Minimal travel, 0-10%.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Salary Range

$40,000 – $60,000
