Clifton Oertli, MBA, MSEE, PE

Clifton Oertli has been with NEI since 2007. Prior to joining NEI, Clifton received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. While working full time at NEI, he also graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 2009 with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Energy System Specialty). After graduating with his MSEE, Clifton taught a sophomore level AC circuits and machines class at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. Clifton also completed a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Denver in 2013.
Since joining NEI, Clifton has aided in managing and designing substations ranging in size. He has also performed numerous electrical system studies such as coordination, arc flash, motor starting, load flow, and harmonics. Additionally, he has personally led multiple teams for on-site commissioning startup.
Clifton is responsible for managing NEI’s growing team of electrical and civil engineers, as well as leading NEI’s marketing and business development initiative. In addition to his managerial responsibilities, he still actively consults with clients and engineers for power system projects in a diverse array of industries. He has over 10 years’ experience at NEI managing multidisciplinary teams, performing detailed design, providing planning studies, performing financial analysis, and providing field engineering services.
Also, Clifton serves on the executive board for the IEEE IAS and IEEE PCIC. His role is primarily related to IT and helping the power industry and IEEE reach the Millennial Generation.
